Get Microsoft Surface Pro 3 WiFi Related Firmware Update

3 10

Microsoft released another firmware upgrade for the Microsoft Surface Pro 3.  Among other things, this update will attempt to address the WiFi disconnections and slow connection issues users have been reporting.  I’m glad that Microsoft acknowledge the issue and provided a prompt fix for it.  Up until now, users have been trying their own fixes from manually updating the WiFi drivers to changing the WiFi adapter power settings.  See below the steps for manually applying the update.

How to Install the Surface Pro 3 Firmware Update

To manually install the Surface Pro 3 firmware update, perform the following steps:

  1. Swipe from the right edge of the screen and then select Settings.  If you’re using a mouse, point to upper-right corner of screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then select Settings.
  2. Select Change PC settings, then select Update and Recovery.
  3. Select Check Now.  After a moment, you will see if there are any available updates.
  4. If there are updates available, select View Details.
  5. Select the updates you want to install, and then press Install.

After the installation is complete, you may need to restart the tablet.

I just applied the update to my SP3.  I’ll provide an update to soon to let you know if WiFi is fixed.

I have the original surface pro and still love it, for me its the stylus and onenote that are killer for this device. I heard they changed the stylus on the latest surface. What do you think of it? how does it compare with gen 1 and 2 surface stylus?

I don’t use the stylus that much. From what I’ve read, people like the new stylus, sans the fact that you can’t tuck it away into the Surface.
